The Shiraz Cabernet 2003 was the first vintage produced on Moody’s
Fontenay Vineyard. The Shiraz Cabernet 2003 was bottled in November 2004, and was 80% Shiraz, made up by my first winemaker,
Phil Stevenson, with 20% Cab Sauvignon. 2003 had not been an easy year, with the drought causing particularly hot and dry
conditions in the Emu Swamp area, and the Shiraz was light in colour, which is why the Cab Sauvignon was blended. (SOLD OUT)

The Shiraz 2004 was a wine that acquired bottle age slowly, and after two years it became one of the finest tasting
wines from this vineyard, and then it sold very quickly! Complex aromas, and a good peppery touch. (SOLD OUT)

The Shiraz 2005 was the first vintage made by Chris Derrez, and it was well received with the local wine critic writing:
“A good, honest wine. The bouquet is full of youthful and vibrant plum and floral aromas with a solid palate of dark
berries and pepper. There is an excellent length of flavour” (SOLD OUT)

Again made by Chris Derrez,
the 2006 vintage is strong coloured and it gives dark cherry and plum aromas,
with berry fruit tastes and a lingering finish. It is ageing well – if you can still get a bottle, there’s not
much left. bottle: $20 case:

2007 was the year that the drought has so far had
its worst effects at Fontenay. I irrigated from October through until early February when the dam dried up, and hot dry weather
continued. The result was a very small crop – 70 cases instead of 150. But it concentrated the flavours, and the fruit
tastes are intense and the colour deep. It is drinking remarkably well for such a young wine, and it will certainly age well. bottle: $20 case: $225
